Jason Gaines and Andrew Kline incepted TRADITION in 2006. Respectively, the ex-college basketball player and a former straight-edge band member (Strife), met as teenagers in Thousand Oaks, CA. Exceeding 15 years of combined retail experience, the two re-met while working as manager/buyer at Conveyor (Gaines) and (Kline) at Fred Segal Santa Monica. Sharing a mutual respect for street culture and lifestyle influencing factors, the pair cultivated TRADITION- a high-end streetwear boutique for men and women that provides distinguished sneaker, apparel and accessory labels including: Nike, Vans Vault, Vans by Marc Jacobs, Converse, Converse by John Varvatos, ALIFE, Creative Recreation, Greedy Genius, Crooks & Castles, Rogue Status, Lemar and Dauley, Mishka, Warhol Factory Levi’s, GONZ!, UNDRCRWN, Crate Denim, and Spragwerks.

Gaines and Kline enlisted MASH Studios- renowned for projects with Kid Robot, Urban Outfitters - to transform the 1200 square foot retail space into a literal interpretation of their straight-to-the-point attitude. The entrance is lined with dark, enevenly positioned, hardwood panels that disintegrate into polished concrete. the clean contrast between the brightly, exposed ceiling and the dark, reclaimed, wood fixtures emphasize the boutique’s hand-selected streetwear line-up.

Tradition also introduced the monthly release of limited-edition novelty items bearing its moniker. Retail price points on all store products range from $28.00 to $300.00. If you are ever in West Lake Village area in Cali, make sure to stop by TRADITION.
