Arguably the most important television series of the past 20 years, the penultimate 4th season of The Wire will be releasing tomorrow on DVD. The gritty drama brings a fresh perspective on the once tired “cop show” genre, exposing the often flawed political and police system in urban America, while portraying a more human perspective of their criminal opposition in ways no other show has attempted.

The 4th season focuses on the impact of the drug trade on the Baltimore City education system, while still telling the stories of the characters fans of the series have grown to love, or in some cases, love to hate. Catch up on this season and any others you may have missed before the final season airs (unaffected by the writer’s strike!!) on HBO January 6th.
