Ring In The New Year with Irak
Wednesday, January 2, 2008 | Author: Jon LedfordIrak has lent their irreverent attitude and design to Adidas for a collaborative effort on two different pairs of Adidas Rmx Equipment Sport Runners. Stamped on each pair is the Irak branding and the year 2007 or 2008, depending on the model. A matching tee has also been released in conjunction with the Alife Rivington Club.

Intentional or not, the color schemes on these sneakers are incredibly similar to the Adidas runners I remember having (or in many cases, wanting) back in the ’90s. Not quite sure how such a distinctive sneaker could further the declaration Irak makes in their namesake, but a good sneaker is a good sneaker.

The Torsion model holds up surprisingly well in terms of comfort and performance as well. While obviously not up to speed with the latest technologies, these sneakers offer a solid compromise between fashion and function.

In keeping with an apparent ’90s theme, the collaborative tee is perfect. For your 12 year old cousin. Honestly, I’ve never really understood the appeal of cartoon characters on tees, especially any attempt to make them edgy. It wasn’t cool then and it certainly isn’t now.

Even if the tee is pretty weak, that doesn’t take away from the sneakers. A diverse mix of materials, eye catching yet still pretty tasteful colors, and a solid base model will always make for a hit. Both pair, along with the tees are available now at Alife locations worldwide and online through The Rivington Club.
