The Spring 2008 footwear line from the Vault division of Vans has been released for preview. This season is themed around the concept of Color Theory, and features all the traditional Vans models you would expect, with a few surprises tossed in to keep ya guessing.

The Authentics, Eras, and Slip-Ons posted above will make excellent casual sneakers for warmer weather. I like that even the brighter colors have been dulled down so as not to follow the brighter is better mentality many companies seem to be unable to resist. I’m curious to see how well such simple sneakers will sell at premium prices typically attached to the Vault line. It’s a thin line between clean and boring designs. Those in the know will recognize the quality, but let’s face it, we are a dying breed.

beyond solid colored basics, the spring Vault line is full of a wide variety of patterns and prints, with this Jungle patterned pack the most intriguing, particularly the Chukka Boot. While I’m not normally a big fan of floral prints (what with being a dude and all) or patterned Vans (my jeans cover the good parts!) I have to say the execution on these looks pretty good. Once again, distinctive, but not gaudy.

Home run! If you ask me, this tone of red is the perfect color for any casual sneaker, as it can be easily incorporated into almost any palette you might wear with jeans or chinos. Dressed up or dressed down, each of these sneakers looks great and with five models to choose from, there’s something here for everyone.
