Here’s a look at the Upper Playground Walrus as interpreted by into a 7″ vinyl figure by Greg “Craola” Simkins. This figure, released towards the end of 2007, is incredibly detailed for a vinyl sculpt and gives the Upper Playground mascot some much needed personality.

This is just one of the three variations of this figure. There is a monochrome version that as available directly through Craola, but all 50 pieces seem to have been snagged up, might be worth asking nicely though, you never know! A yellow vested edition is being sold through Upper Playground in a run of 100. This argyle number, while the most widely available in an edition of 500, is definitely my favorite. The rolled up sleeves and tie give our dude a no-nonsense attitude that every walrus should aspire towards.

While clean lines and a sleek aesthetic dominate the designs of many designer toys, it’s nice to see a more robust design. Check out the detailing on the cheeks! This toy has a lot of life in it and will inevitably make for a great conversation starter.
