March of the SB’s

Many people have been ringing the death bell of Nike SB for a bit now, yet somehow many of their releases still manage to fly off of shelves in days, if not hours. It’s kind of like when bands like Nickelback have the #1 album in the country. You know people are buying it, but you can’t find anyone that actually has it, or is willing to admit it anyway. Unlike that Canadian garbage though, Nike SB appears to be turning things around, as evidenced by these photos of some upcoming March releases.

This pair of Dunks is inspired by the cover art to the epic Guns N’ Roses album Appetite For Destruction. Perhaps that’s the secret here, since even the washed up Axl of today would mop the floor with Nickelback. It’s too bad they didn’t take inspiration from the original cover though. Demons attacking a robotic rapist? That’s timeless.

Here’s a nice pair of Classic SB’s in a maroon and flat gold color scheme. I’ll say it over and over again - this is one of the most slept on retro shoes, SB or otherwise, out there right now. SB comes up with consistently clean colorways on a very simple and comfortable shoe, but nobody is interested!? I’m glad to see a leather model this time around instead of the seemingly standard suede.

Following the lead of the Appetite for Destruction Dunk, here is a high top taking visual cues from Motley Crue’s Dr. Feelgood. This is a little more adventurous but something about these is really appealing to me. I’d much rather deal with fake reptile skin than fake fur like we’ve seen recently. The darker green helps to break the shoe up quite a bit.

The carolina blue Zoom Harbor is a pretty strong colorway, but something still doesn’t sit right with me about Harbors. Maybe it’s seeing a vulcanized sole on a Nike shoe, I don’t know. This model is definitely more geared towards a core skate crowd which will likely drift towards a similar shoe from Vans or Lakai.

I’m not sure if this jacket intentionally matches up with the Zoom Harbors above, but the reversible aspect and that speckle print looks pretty interesting. This will make a great light jacket for the spring weather that can’t come soon enough.

Here’s one of the more interesting graphic tees from SB for spring. With a couple exceptions, it seems like the SB tees have never really taken off the same way the rest of the line has. It’d be nice to see the company continue to steer away from coordinating concepts between tees and footwear, and if that can’t happen, at least bring back the Sneakers Only polos!

It wouldn’t be an SB lineup without cement print showing up somewhere, and this time around we see it in the form of an oversized military cap. Maybe it’s the angle of the picture, but the brim seems way too short in relation to the gigantic crown.

Thanks to lesitedelasneaker for the pictures. Expect this gear at your local SB retailer in March.
