Putting The LA in La Brea

You’ll have to excuse the corny headline, but with the way The Hundreds continues to unleash new product like this new “Tar” New Era cap, I’m running out of ideas here. The bone lettering against a black cap is an obvious reference to the La Brea tar pits out in LA.

There’s an equally corny joke to be made about fossil fuel here, but I just can’t come up with it. Al Gore still isn’t laughing though. Tonal designs have slowly grown on me over the years, but I still struggle to understand black on black designs like the colorway above. I’m all for subtlety, but not to the point of being virtually invisible. I’m willing to admit this is true to the LA spirit though, so maybe that’s all the explanation needed.

Here we go, the white bones really let the lettering shine. I’m sorta surprised to see The Hundreds go the route of an all over print cap these days, and while I like the design, I’m wondering if it would be improved by a more standard spelling across the front of the cap with maybe some accent bones on the back and sides. Check the details though, the embroidery doesn’t get tweaked at the seams. From what I hear, these caps are pretty scarce, so head over to The Hundreds Shop or your local shop before they’re…get ready…extinct. Feel free to call me out on lame lines like these in the comments section, I pretty much have it coming to me by now.
