Jordan Brand has released yet another interesting conceptualization of the Air Jordan I. This time around, the shoes pay homage to Jordan’s not so storied career as a minor league outfielder. The release comes in a white home and black away colorway. As a nice change of pace, the two sneakers are available individually instead of being packaged together like many other prominent retro Jordan releases lately.

Sometimes I Dream That These Are Mine

So, remember about a month ago when I completely geeked out over news that the Carmine VIs were finally getting a retro release? And I said that shoe might well be the shoe of the year? Well I was wrong. According to Sneakernews, the III end of the upcoming III/XX Countdown Pack will be the classic black Jordan III! Are you kidding me? Black III’s!

Recon Team Has Been Spotted

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

20080325frcn_main.jpg

The new spring tee lineup from Recon has arrived in their brick and mortar shop in New York.  For those of you living outside the NY area, we have teaser images of each tee.  Baseball and the struggles between heaven and hell seem to be the two themes running through much of the spring line.  Take this Dodgers parody posted above for example, as a simple design utilizing a clean script, or as a reference to the the notorious Dodger blue.

Kids, Adults, Zombies, And A Naked Girl

20080325fkid_main.jpg

It’s nearing the end of March which means we have a preview of the upcoming KidRobot toy releases for April. This month there’s a little something for everyon. Late night TV nerds can pick up the new Adult Swim minis, creepy Myspace lurkers have a half naked Peecol figure, Romero fans and resellers have a new Dunny to look forward to, and fans of, um, smiling continental breakfast foods have some…well, some smiling continental breakfast food keychains ready to stare back at you. Awkward, but at least they can keep their shirt on.

MJ Got Drafted!

So much for all that talk of no retro Jordan releases outside of the Countdown Packs. Air Randy has come through again with some pictures of an interesting upcoming Jordan I. When most people read Military and Jordan in the same sentence, they expect to read about the blue and white IV’s that we know and love, but not so this time. This pair incorporates typical military brown and greens as well as insignia that tie in to that theme.

Not THAT Running Man

20080325fnike_main.jpg

In yet another collaboration with prominent street artists, Nike has released the apparel for the Running Man project. The three artists - Todd James (AKA Reas), Parra, and Misha (of Perks and Mini) each helped to create tees and jackets to coordinate with some upcoming sneakers, much like the Clerks Pack released a few years ago. It’s always interesting to see how independent artists puts their own stamp on a giant company like Nike, and these collaborations are no exception.

It’s A Jungle Out There

So it looks like the folks at Nike Tech Pack have some more sneakers up their sleeves. Once again an Air Max 1 is paired against an Air Max Safari, with both shoes utilizing the notorious safari print. After the wild success of the last Tech Pack pairing, it stands to reason these will be quite a hit as well.

Blue Collar, Blue Blood

10 Deep has released an online lookbook for their spring line. The line is themed “Blue Collar, Blue Bloods” and explores the juxtaposition of the working class and a more luxurious lifestyle within streetwear. As one of the older brands within this culture, it’s amazing how 10 Deep continues to stay innovative and relevant both in their graphics and cut ‘n sew design. This lookbook embodies the irreverant, lighthearted spirit of the brand without sacrificing any of it’s edge.

Fusion Frenzy

The next step in the Jordan Brand/Air Force 1 fusion series is seen here in the form of an AJ V Fusion AF1 in the traditional white and varsity red color scheme. Foregoing the traditional Air Force upper, this shoe instead incorporates the netting, lacelock, tongue and other features that the Jordan V is known for, only placed on an Air Force sole. Not quite as smooth a transition as the XII Fusions, but this shoe is still an interesting tweak on two classics.
