The next step in the Jordan Brand/Air Force 1 fusion series is seen here in the form of an AJ V Fusion AF1 in the traditional white and varsity red color scheme. Foregoing the traditional Air Force upper, this shoe instead incorporates the netting, lacelock, tongue and other features that the Jordan V is known for, only placed on an Air Force sole. Not quite as smooth a transition as the XII Fusions, but this shoe is still an interesting tweak on two classics.

You may have seen some previous images of these, but the 23 stitching is a recent change that hadn’t been documented prior to the pictures provided by the consistently one step ahead Air Randy. It’s also interesting to note the iced out sole, something you don’t see too often on a pair of Forces, but all too often on Jordans.

Traditionalists on both sides of the fence will be sure to find something not to like about these, and if pressed, I’d be inclined to agree. As much as I like the V and appreciate the silhouette of the Air Force, something about bringing the two together just doesn’t work for me. For one, I feel like there isn’t enough of the Air Force and would rather just see a traditional AJ V release. With that said, when the Air Force is incorporated, it works well, so this shoe is bound to be a hit with some people out there.

Look for these to hit shops sometime around the middle of June. The same shops carrying the XII Fusions should receive these as well. Retail is expected to be around $150. Nothing is ever set in stone with Jordan releases though, so stay tuned for any further developments.
