This Is Your Motivation

Located in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Motivation has those chilly college kids looking hot. Owned by Mike Moeller and HipHopDX’s good pal Mick Boogie, this boutique has truly hit the ground running. Extensive inventory, a carried out mission and a relatively untapped market. Moeller, who blogs at www.mtvtn.blogspot.com, spoke to The Evil Collector about his store, his plans and how to jumpstart a store.

Supreme For The Grown ‘N Sexy

Sunday, March 16th, 2008

Rounding out the last bit of Supreme posts for at least a little while here on The Evil Collector, are some of the cut ‘n sew shirts from the spring season. A few years ago, the only Supreme gear really flying off shelves was tees and anything with a box logo. Nowadays, it seems that even some of the hotter cut ‘n sew items can move just as quickly. While I’m psyched to see this culture slowly expand on the jeans and a tee shirt mentality, it’s also making it that much harder to score some of the gear I’m after myself!

Supreme Sells Sweatshirts In Soho

We’re heading down the stretch with my thoughts on the new offerings from the New York icon that is Supreme. You’ve probably already picked up on the early 90’s and nautical themes running through many of the pieces this spring, so it comes as no surprise to see them incorporated into the hoody designs as well. Check out some more detailed images after the jump.

A Lid Supreme

The new line of Supreme headwear is a perfect example of the company as a whole - classic concepts and design with just enough of a tweak to stay progressive. Plaid camp caps featuring the box logo have become something of a staple, but the bright coloring keeps things interesting. The white cap with royal box logo is particularly strong, unfortunately these appear to have already flown off Supreme shelves, so you can either grab one of the other hats in the rest of the article or hit up your favorite reseller.

Bakshi And R Crumb For Supreme

Friday, March 14th, 2008

20080312fsupgrf_main.jpg

Much like previous seasons, Supreme has enlisted the talents of some notable artists to contribute designs for their spring line. After the success of the tee and hoody series featuring R Crumb last fall, Supreme reached out to the notorious comic artist for some of his distinct lettering on the not so subtle raglan. For even more controversial artist collaborations, check out the rest of the article.

It’s Not Easy Being Supreme

Aside from their clothing, Supreme always provides a strong assortment of decks, bags, and other accessories and this spring is no different. The Kermit/Terry Richardson collaboration is definitely the most talked about aspect of the new line. As weird as it is to refer to a skate deck from a skate shop as an accessory, something tells me that more of these decks will be hanging on walls rather than riding on them. Regardless, it speaks volumes to the clout (or balls) Supreme has in the industry to work with a Jim Henson creation. Much debate has been made about the relevance of a muppet to a company like Supreme, but seeing as these decks flew off the e-shelves of the online shop on Monday, it’s pretty plain the concept resonates with enough people. Check out the season’s bags and other accessories after the jump!

It’s A Bird, It’s A Plane, It’s Supreme!

Late last week Supreme released images of many of the pieces we can expect to see in their spring/summer collection, as well as the first delivery of the line in Supreme shops worldwide. Among the pieces were some interesting bottoms, including the warplane print shorts pictured above. As usual, Supreme maintains an impeccable eye for quality while staying true to their very distinct aesthetic and style. Check out these shorts in greater detail, as well as the new denim, down below.

Grey One X Every One

Grey One recently worked with both Diamond and 3Sixteen, as well as The Soul Assassins on three unique tee designs. Above you’ll recognize the Sade inspiration within the Grey One crest, which honestly seems a bit pedestrian for two innovative companies. The Soul Assassins collaboration features a cement print outline to liven things up a bit. (more…)

What We Wear Is Secret

How did this slip me by? Grn Apple Tree has worked with The Germs, one of the raddest bands you probably have never heard of, on a new tee to tie in to the band’s upcoming collaboration with Vans. As easy as it might be to mail home the design and ride the coattails of the other side of that X, Grn Apple turns in a really strong design of it’s own. Check out the Vans and the second tee colorway after the jump.

Preaching The New Media Gospel

There is something to be said about faith. Once you have a hold of it, you’re either a slave or a motivator. Arif Gursel, who serves as a technical evangelist at Microsoft, interestingly tip-toes the line between those two worlds. His name is associated with Microsoft platforms such as Windows Vista, Xbox360 and Zune. With his tech savvy mind aligned with the culture of hip hop, Gursel looks to push the impact of digital media technology via the entertainment industry.
