While Kidrobot prepares an updated (and hopefully roomier) New York location, they have set up a temporary Pirate Store, which has already played host to several events, with the most recent being a live painting of a massive 48″ Dunny by Tara McPherson. Tara created an awe inspiring figure in her trademark style and even stuck around to sign and sketch for fans who turned out for the event. It’s great to see Kidrobot encouraging people to appreciate the craft of the artists, since many seem to get more wrapped up in ratios and after market value. Check out some more pictures, including the finished piece after the jump.

It’s pretty incredible to think that such a clean work was created live and in person. Sure there doesn’t appear to be a lot of shading, but all of the lines are incredibly clean and this could easily pass for a production model. Matter of fact, this probably has better QC than a lot of the 8″ Dunny figures I have on my shelves. Not to take away from her artistic talent by any means, but Tara herself ain’t too hard on the eyes either, amirite?

Tara was kind enough to sign and doodle on toys or whatever her fans brought by for her. Kidrobot has planned several events at the Pirate Store and has also hinted at some secret events that will occur unannounced, so definitely make a point to stop by if you are in the New York area.
