People have been bugging out over the Nikes that Kanye West was seen wearing at the Grammys. Amidst lots of speculation and rumor, we now have a close up image of the shoes themselves. They are surprisingly modern and athletic looking, considering Kanye’s eye for classic styling. The sole does bear a strong resemblance to the Jordan III’s though.

From a distance, the shoes beat a strong resemblance to classic basketball sneakers. The patent leather details and perforated leather only become apparent upon closer inspection. I like that the tongue allows you to tuck your jeans behind, which is also a nice throwback to a bygone era. Even with some space age features, you can tell that these are definitely in line with Kanye’s style from the pictures above.

Perhaps this is just the flash from an early low quality shot, but this image suggests the possibility of a glow in the dark sole and/or swoosh. Considering the name of his current tour, it certainly seems possible. According to Kanye, these shoes will see a retail release at some point, but nothing has been officially announced.
