This June, Team Ninja and Microsoft will be unleashing the highly anticipated sequel to the incredibly successful Ninja Gaiden. Seeing a beloved series from my childhood get resurrected is always a dicey situation, but the new Ninja Gaiden series has been a pleasant surprise. Judging by the screenshots we have for you after the jump, the sequel is no slouch either. Check ‘em out!

Here we see Ryu in what looks like some Wolverine style riot gear. New weapons!? Sign me up. Short of a few games, I’ve been disappointed with the graphical progression from Xbox to the 360, but if these shots are any indication, Ninja Gaiden 2 is making the most of them. Ooze filled decapitations for the win!

Alright, any technical discussion can stop right here. Ryu gets to rough up giant spiders. If there’s any animal that deserves a good beating time and again, it’s spiders. Especially the really big ones. With armor. Are those some Air Rifts? Nike X Ninja Gaiden? Actually, I should keep my mouth shut before that becomes a reality.

Dismemberment, scorching werewolves, this game really has it all. There’s been a few new melee weapons confirmed for this game, and the bow is back as well. I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy, but in the meantime, there will be a free demo available through Xbox Live sometime next month to wet the appetite.

Ninja Gaiden 2 will be available exclusively on the Xbox 360 this June. In the meantime, check out the official website for more news and some sweet downloads.
