As April comes to a close, KidRobot has announced their upcoming toy releases for May. It looks to be a pretty hectic month for toy collectors with a 3-pack of 8″ Dunny figures, a new series of Fatcaps, and yet another limited Peecol design among the upcoming releases. Brace yourself and your wallet for the details below.

May 1st marks both the grand opening of the new Kidrobot NY location and the release of Mugsy by East3. I hate to say it, but a spray can wearing a visor and holding other spray cans? This release seems about 15 years too late. I like the color scheme, but the concept and execution is just not there this time.

Next up is a new mini series from the design duo that is Peskimo. The BambooZoo is made up of 14 tripped out designs ranging from the surreal to the straight up absurd. While this isn’t really my thing, and probably not yours either, I can respect KidRobot for not pigeonholing themselves into creating strictly urban/street toys and acknowledging a broader consumer base.

Bulgr breaks in to your collection on May 15th. KidRobot has been nothing if not persistent with these Peecol releases. I can’t say I’ve been won over yet, but I have a feeling in a few months, many of us will wake up and regret not grabbing figures like this one. Limited to 600 pieces, this might be the best Peecol released to date.

This one’s a doozy. Three different artists, three different 8″ Dunnys, one theme, one release date. ilovedust, Jon Burgerman, and TADO present the 3 Bears pack. As much as I love each design, with the Carmine VIs coming out that weekend, some sacrifices will have to be made. In all likelihood, that sacrifice is gonna be lunch that week, but looking at these designs, I’m pretty okay with that. Please don’t let this become a regular thing though, I won’t be able to keep up.

Rounding out the month is the much anticipated second series of Fatcaps. There’s some pretty big names in that list of contributing artists, so I have pretty high expectations for this release. I’m a bit surprised at the lack of some names on the list. With Futura lending his designs to Bearbricks, I had hoped someone like he or Stash, or any number of other artists would get a crack at the sculpt rather than rehashing many of the same artists from the first series.
