Some New Spring Staples
Sunday, May 11, 2008 | Author: Jon LedfordJeff Staple and company are at it again for the spring with an increased offering of refined cut n sew items along with some strong graphic tees, such as the this Souls of Mischief/ rap chart inspired design. It’s almost a shame that there aren’t more graphic offerings as Staple does it better than most without catering to popular imagery. Nonetheless the cut n sew is excellent as well and is detailed below.

First up is this take on the classic M-65 jacket. The detailing both in terms of looks and function is simply incredible. From the cinched in pockets which create a cleaner look to the detailed stitching on the chest pockets, no aspect is ignored. Now with that said, those aspects include the price. At around $200, you’ll certainly be getting your money’s worth, but I’m not totally sure how many people REALLY need that level of functionality out of their jacket. Still, this is one of my favorite takes on the M-65 that I’ve seen in a long time.

Up next is this long sleeve safari shirt. I have to be honest here, as much as I like a high quality shirt for dressier occasions, the retail price of around $150 seems rather high. Sure, the little details are there to make this both unique and comfortable, but I can get those same details from other companies small and large at a much lower price point. Sure, it’s a nice shirt, but it ain’t $150 nice, in my eyes anyway. Then again, with those recession checks on their way, maybe this is worth considering.

This lightweight nylon jacket is also simple, well designed, and pricey. Sure the chest pocket is well thought out and the quality of the jacket is not unlike the Nike Tech Pack gear, but as with the Tech Pack, it seems to me that as much as people appreciate the concept and execution, they seem to appreciate from afar until the prices are marked down.
All these pieces should be available now at your local Staple retailer.
