The Lost Ring is a new ARG that was created for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, it is sponsered by McDonald’s and the International Olympic Committee. For those who don’t know what ARG (Alternate Reality Game) is it is basically an online gaming where the gamer along with many other gamers around the world try to solve a mystery, using clues, puzzles, artifacts, pictures, and other real world facts via multimedia (websites, forum rooms, phone numbers etc…). 

The full story or plotline of The Lost Ring is still not yet fully known, only that it has to deal with the Olympic games of the past and the 2008 Olympics, the rest of the story reveals itself as the gamer solves more and more clues.
