Penny’s Two Cents
Wednesday, June 18, 2008 | Author: Jon LedfordOnce again back it’s the incredible! Fulfilling the dreams of countless collectors, Nike will be issuing a retro release of the Air Penny II. This shoe has been near the top of my personal Holy Grail list for quite some time. Epitomizing that golden era of 90’s basketball shoes, the shots below suggest that this new release will stay pretty true to the original.

Zoom Air, 3M accents, and a timeless color combo, not to mention the nostalgia of an early Penny Hardaway befoe injuries marred his career, I can’t even begin to explain the anticipation so many have for this shoe. Come October, expect dudes to come out of the woodwork over these.

It seems like Nike wised up given the failure of oddball colorways of the Penny I retro and will stick with what worked back in the day. I’m a bit apprehensive as to how these will look with a pair of jeans, but honestly I’m getting a pair regardless and you know you’ll be doing the same.

Here’s the second pair expected to drop in November. Retail on these will be around $135. Get in touch with your local shop early so you can secure your pairs, this is the kinda shoe that might not even make it to shelves.
