Alright so long before Lost or Battlestar Galactica, The X-Files was the sci-fi show that you could admit to watching and still be able to make friends. Now if you’re anything like me, as rad as the ongoing conspiracy was, later seasons got way too bogged down with the confusing details and the infrequency with which that plot developed. No, the real strength of this show were the affectionately named Monster of the Week episodes. So after the series wrapped up and an initial theatrical release closed the book on the overarching plot, it seems only fitting to give those weekly monsters their shot at the big screen.

Alright, so I didn’t have time yesterday to yell from the highest peaks of the internet about Iron Man, but let me tell you - this is easily among the best superhero movies I’ve seen. There’s been some great adaptations of comics characters over the past few years, but Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man is flawless. I mean, how hard could his portrayal of rich, alcoholic international celebrity Tony Stark really have been? But seriously, as a comics nerd or a casual fan, you’ll walk away wishing for a sequel on this one.

It was a rainy Saturday night in Baltimore yesterday, so my girl and I decided to hit up the Charles and check out a movie I’ve been hearing a lot about. Mitchell Lichenstein’s Teeth stars Jess Weixler as Dawn, a leading member of her local Christian based chastity group. When Dawn’s sexuality comes under attack, she is able to fight back in an incredibly unexpected and gruesome way, with hilarious and (decidedly unsexy) results.
