California boutique Versus has released some incredible new designs for their Us Versus Them in-house line. Opting to put out a strong collection when the time is right rather than forcing designs out each season, I’ve always been impressed with the illustrative detail in each Us Versus Them design. If the east coast vs. west coast debate ever comes to a tiebreaker, I’m pretty sure the number of incredible week long hardcore tours the east coast gets in comparison to the west coast will nudge us up over the top. Last night was a perfect example of just such a tour as Surroundings, I Rise, Meltdown, Wake Up Call, and the almighty Bane took the Ottobar stage as the perfect remedy to a serious case of the Mondays.
Alife opened up in Los Angeles a little over 8 months ago on Fairfax Ave. where other streetwear brands and skate brands all hold down there shops. They threw a big opening day party and have been on the grind since. During Spring most businesses have this sale called the Spring Cleaning Sale to get rid of past season merchandise at a great price.
A Bathing Ape is known for their over priced patent leather AF1 rip offs. But beyond that point this is one of my favorite brands of all time. Better known as BAPE, they’ve been in the game since 1993 and are still holding it down and only getting bigger as the years go by. As being of of the pioneers in this game they’ve collaborated with big names such as Kaws, DC comics, Marvel, Adidas, Casio G-Shock and New Era. This collab right here is with a company that everyone loves to do a collab with.
So about a few weeks ago, The Crooks & Castles family went to Japan. From what I heard they were just going for their yearly vacation to Japan. But from what your about to witness further in this discussion is something I would’ve never thought of. Crooks being one of the most biggest brands out here in the US clicked up with Japan’s very own Rock Smith.
I know I promised a more thorough review of Grand Theft Auto IV, and it would have come sooner but to be honest, I can’t stop playing the damn game. Before I go any further though, let me say that I’ve spent a total of less than two hours on the previous games in this series. The gimmicky arcade style always turned me off and I found the controls too wonky to play them at length. I like my games to have at least some semblance of a storyline that takes itself seriously, even if there aresome lighthearted moments peppered in. GTA IV finally achieves what I knew this franchise was capable of with a compelling, almost cinematic storyline.
This saturday May 10th, Supra footwear will be releasing a very limited pair of sneakers. So limited that only 11 retailers in the US will be getting these in and only having 30 pairs each. These silver, white and hints of turquoise kicks will be part of the Supra’s very own flagship store in Los Angeles Factory 413’s store exclusives called ‘413‘. A better pic after the jump will help you figure out what sneakers I’m talking about.
Hiroshi Fujiwara and Nike have joined forces again to collab on another pair Nike’s. No these aren’t AF1’s again… They’re Nike SB’s. In the collab Hiroshi got to add his twist to the P-Rod II’s using a bright rainbow colorway. When you think of rainbow I’m sure you think these will be a very loud sneaker similar to Pharrell’s very own line Ice Cream.
Alright, so I didn’t have time yesterday to yell from the highest peaks of the internet about Iron Man, but let me tell you - this is easily among the best superhero movies I’ve seen. There’s been some great adaptations of comics characters over the past few years, but Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man is flawless. I mean, how hard could his portrayal of rich, alcoholic international celebrity Tony Stark really have been? But seriously, as a comics nerd or a casual fan, you’ll walk away wishing for a sequel on this one.
So I came home tonight totally ready to give you faithful readers (hi mom!) a full review of Iron Man and Grand Theft Auto IV (sorry mom!), but for now you’ll have to just know that they both indeed rule.
